You don’t need to
“fix yourself” to find love.
But you do need to understand yourself to forge a true connection.
If dating feels like a series of awkward starts, confusing endings, or emotional landmines, you’re not alone. Many of the women we work with come in feeling anxious, exhausted by dating apps, and unsure how to be themselves in the process.
They wonder:
Why do I keep attracting the wrong people?
What’s getting in the way of deeper connection?
Is it me? Am I doing something wrong or is modern dating broken?
If this sounds familiar, you're in the right place. We’re a team of dating therapists helping women navigate the complexities of dating and helping them build the meaningful, lasting relationships they are searching for.
Dating Therapy for Women Ready For That Connection
At River Psychology Group, we offer therapy designed specifically for women who feel stuck, disappointed, or disheartened by their dating lives. Our clients often come in with rich personal stories and self-defeating patterns they may not be aware of yet.
Whether you’re recovering from a high-conflict childhood, navigating dating anxiety after a really bad breakup or divorce, or wondering why rejection hits you so hard, we help you untangle those threads and build the confidence to show up fully as you.
Because good dating doesn’t start with finding the right person. It starts with knowing yourself.
“The Best Time To Start Therapy Is As Soon As You’re Thinking About It.”
We’re women-centered. Which means we’ve lived some of these patterns ourselves and we’ve done the work too.
In our sessions, we show up with curiosity, warmth, and humor. No scripts. No formulas. Just therapy that helps you get real with yourself so you can connect more authentically with others.
We help you explore the layers beneath your dating story without judgment. That includes:
Letting go of rigid “checklists” and making room for surprise
Understanding your early relationship patterns
Healing from past relationships, rejections, or breakups
Making space for a relationship in your actual life
Aligning your dating choices with your values - not your parents’, friends’, or society’s
Techniques We Use To Help
Our approach is integrative, drawing from multiple evidence-based therapeutic frameworks including:
-
CBT helps you identify the thoughts and beliefs that shape how you approach dating from the stories you tell yourself after a rejection to the fears that hold you back from being fully present. By challenging unhelpful thinking patterns, CBT can help you feel more confident, clear, and grounded in your dating life.
-
ACT supports you in building a dating life that aligns with your values- even when anxiety or fear shows up along the way. Instead of trying to get rid of difficult feelings, ACT teaches you how to allow space for them while still moving toward meaningful connection.
-
This approach helps uncover the unconscious patterns and early relationship dynamics that influence who you’re drawn to and why some connections feel so hard to maintain. By understanding your emotional history, you can recognize and break free from old cycles and create more satisfying, secure relationships.
-
Dating brings up intense emotions like excitement, anxiety, rejection, hope. DBT gives you tools to manage emotional overwhelm, set boundaries, and communicate more effectively, so you can navigate the ups and downs of dating with more resilience.
