New York Postpartum Therapy

with Dr. Shira Danzig, PhD

& Golda Fleishman, LMSW

For 15 years, we’ve supported new moms navigating the emotional, physical, and identity shifts of motherhood.

Are you adjusting to life after birth and feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure who you are now that you’ve had a baby?

Maybe you’re dealing with a stressful or complicated pregnancy, struggling with anxiety or depression, or feeling like the reality of motherhood is nothing like what you imagined. You might be feeling distance from your partner or family, pressure to get it “right,” and guilt that you’re not enjoying it more.

You’re not alone — and it’s not just the baby blues.

Our postpartum therapy helps you feel more grounded, supported, and confident as you navigate a profound life transition.

Our Therapy Is For New Moms Who Are:

  • Feeling emotionally depleted, anxious, or on edge most of the day

  • Experiencing Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs)

  • Unsure how they feel about their baby

  • Feel like they’ve lost their identity

  • Riding intense emotional ups and downs that don’t seem to settle

  • Having more tension in their relationships or families

If You’re Reading This, Now Is The Time To Start”

There’s a cultural myth that motherhood should feel purely joyful.

But the truth is, it often comes with fear, grief, and doubt. Many mothers feel pressure to hide it. Even if you’ve always wanted this, it’s normal to feel conflicted once it’s here.

Our therapy approach is integrative and grounded.

We draw from psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other proven methods to help you feel more like yourself again, not just a version of who you think you should be.

  • CBT helps identify and shift negative thoughts that can fuel feelings of failure, guilt, or fear. In postpartum therapy, it supports you in recognizing unhelpful mental loops and building more realistic, supportive self-talk.

  •  ACT helps you stay grounded when you’re overwhelmed by uncertainty, conflicting emotions, or big changes. We’ll work on building emotional flexibility and reconnecting with what matters to you in this stage of life.

  • Psychodynamic therapy explores how past relationships and patterns — especially with your parents — may be influencing how you see yourself as a mother today. This work supports healing deeper emotional roots and building a more solid sense of self.

  • DBT gives you practical tools to manage intense emotions, navigate stress, and stay present — even on the hardest days. These skills can help you feel more emotionally stable and connected to yourself and your baby.
